The potential effects of CBG: what are the benefits?

There's a lot of talk about CBD, the star on the market. Cannabigerol or CBG, on the other hand, is attracting growing interest. Scientific studies are actively investigating its potential, while the general public is wondering about its benefits. Find out more about the effects effects of CBG.

What is CBG?

Origin of CBG

As you may know, the hemp plant contains over a hundred cannabinoids. CBD is one of them, CBG or cannabigerol another. It's commonly described as the "mother molecule" behind all cannabinoids, derived from CBGA (cannabigerolic acid), which is an acid form of CBG.

In its natural state, CBG is found in lower quantities than other cannabinoids. In concrete terms: for every 1% of CBG, there is 20-25% CBD, and 25-30% THC. This partly explains the sometimes higher cost of CBG-containing products. But as you'll see, its beneficial effects are worth looking into.

The difference between CBD and CBG

Finally, what is the difference between CBG and CBD ? A legitimate question! Both molecules share the same origin hemp. However, they are not present in the same quantities depending on the plant's stage of maturity.

These are two non-psychotropic cannabinoids non-toxic cannabinoids. Both cannabinoids have effects on the body, some in common. However, studies on CBG are far from complete.

While CBD can be found in a variety of forms (candy, CBD oil, cosmetics, flowers, resin, etc.), CBG is mainly present in the form of in oil formdue to its very low concentration in hemp plants at harvest.

What are the advantages of CBG?

The CBG action

CBG works like the other cannabinoids in hemp. That is, it acts on the receptors of the endocannabinoid system system. It's this interaction that leads to potentially beneficial effects. Please note that CBG has no psychoactive effect.

CBG research is less advanced than CBD. But its effects are of great interest to the scientific community.

Potential effects of CBG

According to a Spanish study the main effects of CBG are its anti-inflammatory anti-inflammatory, antifungal and analgesic properties. It may also have a role to play in combating depression. A number of studies are currently underway into its possible effects on endometriosis. Today, the potential benefits of CBG are therefore linked to these different fields:

  • painkiller ;
  • antibacterial properties ;
  • appetite stimulation ;
  • improved sleep ;
  • SKIN HEALTH;
  • anxiety, stress and depression;
  • inflammatory bowel diseases ;
  • glaucoma treatment ;
  • treatment and prevention of colon cancer.

Focus: the benefits of cannabigerol for the skin

CBG could be a solution for acne. According to this this scientific study it would appear that cannabigerol can play a role in regulating various skin processes. CBG would be involved in both treatment and prevention. Overall, this molecule is said to have a positive impact on skin appearance.

How to eat it

Cannabigerol oil

To consume CBG, you can choose CBG oil. It's a simple, practical and effective way to benefit from the effects of this cannabinoid. You can place a few drops of oil under your tongue, preferably in the morning. Leave for 60 seconds before swallowing. The best idea is to opt for broad-spectrum or full-spectrum oils, which contain CBD and other cannabinoids, including CBG. Combined in this way, these complementary molecules (CBD, CBN, CNG, CBG...) will have an entourage effect. In other words, their respective effects are amplified.

Precautions to take when using CBG

Take care to follow the recommended dosages. Always start with a low dose, observe what happens in your body, and then gradually increase the dosage. Note that CBG sometimes causes a slight state of excitement, so avoid taking it just before bedtime.

At Mama Kana, you can find CBG full spectrum hemp oil. Naturally bitter, to stay as close to nature as possible, with the added bonus of the Swiss organic farming label.
