CBD flowers are generally sold in inexpensive packaging, designed solely to prevent the flowers from scattering anywhere.
While plastic or paper pouches can temporarily keep your CBD flowers fresh, it's important to consider a better option if you want to keep them for more than a few days.
Many of you know that smoking old, dry and crumbly CBD is no fun. CBD flower that is not stored properly quickly loses its flavor and potential.
Although CBD flowers don't have an expiry date as such, they still need to be stored with the same care as fine wine or old whisky.
Humidity, light and heat degrade the various cannabinoids, including CBD.
Storing your CBD flowers in bags that do not close properly or are not airtight is not optimal and your CBD flowers will dry out quickly.
However, if your CBD flowers become completely dry, the smoke will be aggressive and much less tasty.
On the other hand, if you store your CBD flowers in too damp a place, mould could destroy your supply in the short or long term.
Properly stored, you can expect your CBD flowers to keep for at least six months.
Four parameters are essential to master for optimal conservation of your CBD flowers. Please note that these criteria may be different if you use our CBD pre-rolls.
HUMIDITY
The ideal humidity level for storing your CBD flowers is between 54% and 63%.
TEMPERATURE
The temperature at which you store your CBD flowers is important for two reasons.
Firstly, temperature has an impact on the likelihood of mold growth. Molds thrive at temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius.
Secondly, low temperatures slow down the breakdown of cannabinoids, including CBD, which lose potency as temperatures rise.
It is therefore important to keep your CBD flowers cool.
Never freeze your CBD flowers, however, as such cold temperatures cause the trichomes, which are rich in cannabinoids including CBD, to freeze and crumble, making them highly susceptible to detachment from the CBD flowers and dispersal.
LIGHT
UV radiation destroys the cannabinoids present in flowers. If they are exposed to light for too long, they lose their potential and begin to crumble.
Light can also damage the trichomes mentioned above, which are particularly rich in cannabinoids.
It is therefore essential to store your CBD flowers in a cool, dry place away from light.
AIR
It's important to store your CBD flowers in an airtight container to prevent them from drying out.
Ideally, store your CBD flowers in hermetically sealed glass jars in the dark.
Be sure to fill your jar ¾ full. This will prevent your CBD flowers from drying out and deteriorating.
THE PROBLEM OF PLASTIC BAGS
Everyone has stored their CBD flowers in plastic bags, and this is unfortunately the most common method of storage.
These plastic bags have several defects that affect the conservation of CBD flowers.
In addition to letting in light and heat, and encouraging the accumulation of humidity, plastic bags generate static electricity, which can cause CBD flowers to break off and deposit on the walls of the bag. When this happens, a lot of cannabinoids, including CBD, are lost.
Glass jars are therefore ideal ... So on your marks, get set... Chanvrez!
