Here’s a list of the ingredients I needed to make CBD-infused butter or oil at home:

  • Aluminium foil
  • Baking sheet.

Depending on your preferred method, you may need additional tools or ingredients.

How to Make CBD-Infused Butter or Oil: Step-By-Step Guide

Now, I had to make the final product. The entire process took me about 3 days to complete.

Step 1: Heat Up the CBD Flower

Before making a mix of butter or oil with CBD, the first step is to decarboxylate the hemp. This heating process converts CBD-A from its raw form to a more psychoactive form of CBD that gives the high sensation. To achieve this, I did the following:

  • Set my oven to 225°F (107°C)
  • Grinded the CBD flower to break it up finely, but not so smooth that it passes through a strainer.
  • Spread the ground flower on a baking sheet and I covered it with a thin layer of aluminium foil.
  • Baked the plant for about 45 minutes to an hour, but kept stirring it at intervals of 10 to 20 minutes.
  • Once baked, I allowed the oven to cool off and took out the baking dish.

Alternatively, we could soak the CBD plant in water for three days. All you have to do is change the water every 8 hours until it becomes clear but I usually prefer to use the oven method.

Step 2: Melt the Butter or Prepare Your Oil

As I wait for the heated CBD flower to cool off, melt my butter on low heat. Note that the required quantity of butter depends on your recipe, prescription, or the dose of CBD per serving.

By the way, are you wondering how to choose your CBD flower? A good approach is to calculate how much butter or oil you need based on the potency of your CBD flower. For instance, if you’re using an ounce of flower, it contains 20% CBD. That means you have about 5,600 mg of CBD in total. So, you need about 560 servings’ worth of butter or oil for a 10 mg CB serving quantity.

Step 3: Mix the CBD Flower With the Oil or Melted Butter

Now, it’s time to add the CBD flower to the melted butter or oil. Once they are added together in a medium-sized pot, I put the mix on very low heat and I continued mixing for about 2 to 3 hours. This gave enough time for the CBD to properly infuse into the butter or oil.

Step 4: Strain the Mix

After the CBD has been infused, I took the pot off the heat and let the mix cool off a bit. After that, I placed a mesh strainer over a glass jar and poured the infused butter or oil into it. That way, I collected the filtered mix in the jar underneath. You can also press on the CBD flower to get whatever oil or butter is left.

Step 5: Store the CBD-Infused Oil or Butter

Once the straining process was complete, I placed the jar lid over the jar and refrigerated the butter. If you’re processing CBD oil, you may just leave the jar in a cool, dry place or pour the oil in smaller containers and store.

And that’s all! My homemade CBD-infused butter or oil was ready.

Why Make CBD-Infused Butter or Oil?

There are many reasons to consider making your CBD-infused butter or oil. Let me give you a couple of them.

While you can purchase CBD edibles from approved stores in legal locations, going the DIY route is an excellent way to create more tasty ways to enjoy your hemp. For instance, you can make your butter tastier by mixing it with marijuana flower. Especially if you choose premium CBD flowers like I have in stock from you on my online store. This will give it a smooth and creamy texture with the flavor of CBD.

Flexible Customization

Creating your own CBD butter or oil can help you adjust your dosage easily and determine the finished products to use the butter or oil for. In other words, you can find out which products work best with your body and tailor your dosage accordingly.
